Behind the Scenes: Custom Limited P-Cap

We’ve always wanted make our P-Caps with colored cord in order to show off more style and more fun. However, we’ve not able to because the order amount for each special cord color is too high and we would be left with lots of unused cordage at our factory. So our next option was to jump in ourselves and modify some of our existing P-Caps by swapping out the black cord for USA made colored cord! This led to some fun studio time and sewing sessions (and some time away from our computer screens…), that showcase a bit more about our studio and sewing process.

When we first started offering these custom color caps, it was during our monthly Giveaways but that was only 1 cap a month. We felt more people should have the opportunity to own one and that was another big reason why we wanted to make these custom P-Cap’s more available. As Parapack continues to grow, our goal will be to offer more variety of colors in a non-limited capacity.

Deconstructing

First things first - after running through each P-Cap through our standard QC process (see Behind the scene: P-Cap Fulfillment), we then carefully begin deconstructing the caps, but only enough thread for the original cord to be slide and be removed easily.

It might not seem like it, but this step is the most time consuming step out of all.

Replacing custom color cord

Without removing the original cord completely, we then melt and connect the ends of the new colored cord to the end of the original cord and slide it through!

Stitch everything back together.

After carefully aligning the new color cord to cap we run it through our sewing machine. Next we reattach the product label and snip off any long threads and double check everything works as it’s intended, such as the cord adjustment mechanism and the stitches quality and strength… and now these custom P-Caps are finally they are ready to ship!
